Gravel Burn is a 7-day international gravel stage race that winds through South
Africa’s remarkably diverse landscapes. Each night, riders rest in remote wilderness camps beneath vast, star-filled skies. The journey concludes with a epic encounter
with Africa’s iconic Big Five wildlife.
The brand identity is inspired by the optical illusion of a mirage on the horizon.
As heat rises from the earth, the landscape appears to ripple and blur — a distortion
that suggests motion and mystery. This sense of shifting movement is captured in the wordmark and serves as the foundation of the entire design system. The visual language draws on this movement, allowing it to adapt and transform seamlessly across a wide range of applications and media.
